Wintry and Wakeful

SSATB a cappella - text by Greg Kefalas - English - Medium - Premiered

“See, falling forth from greying skies and clouds, the whisper of a wildly whitening snow.

In piles and drifts it blankets as it grows, covering all the bare brown branches once endowed

With life and leaves, and luscious greens so proud.

But now the frozen loam lays hard and cold, and shuddering with ice,

The branches throw themselves above to catch the sun, through shrouds.

But, blazing bright, the shining star breaks free,

And, bursting from behind the grey, its light, and warmth will melt the ice and snows so white.

Hear tinkling laughter of a million streams, and glassy drops of thaw-like gems to see,

Awaken in the morning sun's bright beams.”
