The Willow

$3.00

SATB & Piano - text by Greg Kefalas - English - Easy

“A slowly flowing stream went by a willow's arms; below.

Her languid waters sang a song sounded on the shore's smooth stones.

And, daily gazing willow sighed, for halfway could he sway.

For young was he, with green spring stems sprouted in the sumptuous soil.

Sing for me, my love, though I can nary touch your shores,

And she would sing her river song, sounded on the shore's smooth stones.

And as years passed, small willow was, at long last mighty tree; and fast,

The river flowed, now strong and smooth, snaking through the sheltered stand.

And for a score, the willow called, His forest love, below;

And hearing him, how she would smile, singing to him soft sweet songs.

But time is neither slowed nor stopped, and love, life, all will pass;

And, weeping, willow ceased to sway, standing in senescent still.”
